Marian was passionate about her family, faith and fine things. Antique collecting was her hobby and cooking at a gourmet level was effortless for her, as was hand-quilting many stunning quilts.

Marian appreciated beauty in her life. There were many lovely things in her home, but Marian felt things meant little unless shared with others – a rose from the garden, fresh raspberries, thoughtful acts and good food were most valued and often combined as gifts from her heart.

Marian attended parochial school (in German) in Buck Creek and secondary school in Sumner. She graduated from Wartburg College shortly after being married to Reese Gibbs in 1956. Marian had a 44-year teaching career.

Marian was a long-time member of P.E.O., Early American Glass Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Hospital Auxiliary. She donated countless hours of cookie and pie baking to support the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown.

Marian and Reese had two children Kevin (& Kathy Gibbs) from Loveland, Colorado, and Kim Gibbs from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Marian is survived by her sisters Norma Juhl and Carol Snyder, David and Kris Saggau family and a large extended family.

She is predeceased by her parents, husband Reese; sisters Helen Schultz and Stella Dillemuth; brother Allen (Bud) Buhr; along with their spouses Harold Schultz, Lester Juhl, Russell Dillemuth, Wilma Reinking Buhr and Harold (Pat) Snyder.
