John Eldon Reimers, 81

John Eldon Reimers was born at home on February 10, 1942, in Pocahontas County, IA. He died unexpectantly at home in Cape Fair, MO, in his wife, Mary’s, loving arms on March 11, 2023.

John was raised and lived in rural Laurens, IA, until he graduated from Ware & Laurens Consolidated High School in 1960.

He was employed as a tool and die maker by B.K. Sweeny Manufacturing in Denver, CO, from 1965-1970.

In the 70’s he was self-employed and owned Central Iowa Machine Shop in Marshalltown, IA.

He was later employed in Iowa as a supervisor at American Carwash Industries and as a Process Engineer at Dayco (later Parker Hannifin) in Iowa and Wisconsin.

In 2002, John married his best friend and true partner, Mary (Davis) Langbehn and moved to Manitowoc, WI, where they started their adventures together.

John could build or fix anything and had multiple major projects going simultaneously. His most recent projects included a beautiful lake home remodel, a bus to RV conversion, tinkering with his Jeep and helping Mary with gardening and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary Reimers, his brother-in-law, Jack Gethmann; son Jody Reimers (Barbara), of Denver, CO, and daughters Jenice Ott, of Keokuk, IA, Johnna Trammel (David), of Quincy, IL and Lisa Teesdale (Robert), of Colorado, stepsons, Paul Langbehn and Troy Langbehn; as well as 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents John Thomas and Christina Marie (Andersen) Reimers; brother Roger Reimers and his wife Nancy; sisters Helen Caskey, Joan Gethmann, Hazel Lampe and her husband Don; grandson Joe Reimers and great granddaughter Carolyn Gaus; stepson Jake Langbehn.

John and his wife Mary retired to Cape Fair, Missouri, in 2008 and started a family business, “From Ashes,” making jewelry from glass. They enjoyed their coffee shop and church communities, raising chihuahuas, dancing, traveling and camping together.

Plans are being made for a Celebration of Johns life on Saturday, April 29th at 10:30 am at Edgewater Church, Cape Fair, MO.
