Sadly, it seems that David Blom’s scary and inaccurate ads against Representative Sue Cahill did the trick. Representative Cahill has served our area tirelessly in many capacities for many years. Anyone has a right to run against her, but why the dirty tricks and lies? “Representative Cahill is for pornography in schools?” Why not run a race about your priorities for the state. Why did you have to resort to outrageous misinformation? You’re not Iowa School Social Worker Legislator of the Year for peddling porn.

City should use all $18M for streets

It has been reported that Marshalltown has around $18 million in unspent bond money. That means the city overtaxed us by $18M dollars over a period of time. We all know, and anyone visiting knows Marshalltown has an extremely serious street problem on the north side of town. And I believe 100% of that $18M should be spent on streets. Starting on streets north of State Street between 3rd Ave and 2nd St before they all need very costly full-depth replacement. Some already do. I have never met the author of this letter, but I did want to respond to her since it is clear that clarification is needed. Ms. Inks believes that campaign donations are for personal use. No idea where she gets this idea, but I can assure you that the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board would not take kindly to anyone using campaign donations for a couple semesters at Ellsworth or a down payment on a car.
