Iowa’s Pemsl out after sports hernia surgery
IOWA CITY — Iowa men’s basketball forward Cordell Pemsl underwent sports hernia surgery on Tuesday and is expected to miss eight weeks, the athletics department Wednesday.
Pemsl is not expected to participate in the summer’s Prime Time League, but is expected to return for overseas trips in August with the team.
“I spoke to Cordell after the surgery and everything went great,” said Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery. “We’re happy that he will be back on the court later this summer.”
Pemsl started in 14 of the 34 games last year, averaging 8.9 points and five rebounds per game. He was a 61.7 percent shooter from the floor.
