SPORTS SHORTS: STC boys rattle off fourth-staright win

TIFFIN — The South Tama County boys basketball team won its fourth-straight game on Friday, defeating WaMaC Conference West Division foe Clear Creek-Amana, 70-52.

The Trojans (5-2, 4-0) were led by a season-high 22 points by Keith Keahna, followed by a season-high 17 points by Kaiden Buffalo.

Keahna also led in rebounds with eight, while Justus Ward and Tyon Sterling had five assists each.

Redhawk girls fall to Collins-Maxwell

TRAER — The North Tama girls basketball game lost an Iowa Star Conference South Division matchup against Collins-Maxwell on Friday, 44-22.

Takoa Kopriva scored the bulk of the Redhawk (1-6, 0-4) points, dropping in 14 of the team’s 22 points.

Brianda Bane scored 21 points for the Spartans (6-3, 5-1), while Mikayla Markley had 10.

Tigers beat Denver for second victory

ELDORA — The South Hardin girls’ basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid on Friday by taking out Denver, 56-47, earning its second win of the season.

Paige Harrell had 18 points to pace the Tigers (2-6) while Kiera Anderson had 12 and Jaelyn Allen scored 11 off the bench.

North Tama beats Regents for first win

WATERLOO — The North Tama girls basketball team earned its only win of the season on Thursday night, taking down Waterloo Christian on the road, 50-22.

Takoa Kopriva had 17 points in the win for the Redhawks (1-5), while Abby Deboef, Shelby McKinley and Hope Brubaker all had eight in the win.

Rylee McLean led North Tama in rebounding with 11 against the Regents (0-6) and McKinley had 10 steals.
