Iowa State women smash Wildcats in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Iowa State women’s basketball team earned a huge Big 12 win on Saturday by dominating Kansas State on the road, 80-45.

The Cyclones (10-13, 4-8) only trailed after the first bucket for the Wildcats (12-11, 4-8), as they won the first quarter 25-13. Kansas State worked the lead back down to just four in the second quarter, but Iowa State went on a 13-0 run to end the first half and start the third quarter and build their lead back to a comfortable margin.

Adriana Camber had a career night for the Cyclones, as the sophomore from Sweden dropped in a career-high 21 points in the largest win ever for Iowa State in Bramlage Coliseum.

Meredith Burkhall finished with a double-double as well, scoring 20 points and pulling down a career-high 13 rebounds, while Madison Wise had 17 and leading scorer Bridget Carleton had 11. Emily Durr was the third Cyclone to put up a career best, as she finished with 13 assists.

Iowa State also had a season-high mark from behind the 3-point line by hitting 15 shots outside the arc.

Kansas State was held to a dismal 24.6 percent shooting, as Kayla Goth led the Wildcats with 14 points and Peyton Williams was the only other scorer in double digits with 11.

Iowa State has a mid-week bye next week, and it will be off until next Sunday when the Cyclones host No. 23 Oklahoma State at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
