MCC baseball gets off to rocky start

SEDALIA, Mo. — The Marshalltown Community College baseball team started its season off with three straight losses over the weekend, losing all three games of a series to State Fair Community College.

The Tigers (0-3) lost close in back-to-back games on Saturday, falling 2-1 in the opener and 3-2 in the second game of the doubleheader to the Roadrunners.

Brodie Paulson hit a double for the Tigers in the first game for their first hit and Marving Serrano batted in the only run with a hit in the sixth inning. In the second game, Diego Almonte batted in Serrano on a double to left for the first run in the fourth and Jose Mieses drove in Candido Encarnacion in the seventh for the Tigers’ only scores.

Things didn’t get any better on Sunday in game three of the series as State Fair ran out to an 11-1 win over MCC in the finale. The Tigers committed four errors in the loss, and Mieses batted in the only run of the day for the Tigers in the third in by driving Hunter Cowan.

MCC has some time off now before traveling to Tennessee on Friday to take on Motlow State CC.
