Indian Hills baseball takes two from MCC

The Marshalltown Community College baseball team started its final homestand of the season with the first two of four games this weekend against Indian Hills Community College on Saturday.

The Tigers actually owned a lead in game one heading to the third inning, but the Falcons changed that quickly with four runs in the third on the way to a 19-8 victory. Game two didn’t get much better for MCC, with Indian Hills putting up 13 runs in the fifth inning alone on the way to taking a 18-1 win.

Marshalltown had ten hits in the first game, with Elijah Bergeron going 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored and Jose Mieses and Carter Eldridge each going 2-for-4. Jeffry Roldan also hit a two-run home run in the loss.

There wasn’t much offense to speak of in game two, though Roldan did hit another dinger in the loss to score the lone run for the Tigers in the first inning. Candido Encarnacion, Hunter Cowan and Nick Hagen were the only other MCC players to record hits in the game.

The Tigers and Hawks continue their series on today when they play another doubleheader at Shawn Williams Field, starting at noon.
