ISU matmen deck NDSU

FARGO, N.D. — The No. 21 Iowa State wrestling team secured its first Big 12 victory of the season with a 29-7 win over No. 23 North Dakota State on Wednesday.

The Cyclones won eight of 10 bouts in Fargo, including three by bonus-point margin.

Redshirt junior Chase Straw put the Cyclones on the boar first at 157 pounds by defeating Nick Knutson in a 17-8 major decision.

Redshirt freshman Marcus Coleman jumped out to an early 6-2 lead over Lorenzo De La Riva at 174, then after De La Riva cut the score to 6-5 before Coleman pulled out an 8-7 win.

Sam Colbray (184), Gannon Gremmel (285), Austin Gomez (133) and Ryan Leisure (141) all came away with decisions for the Cyclones, while Willie Miklus pinned Cordell Eaton at 197 and Jarrett Degen took a 16-5 major decision at 149.
