MHS wrestlers pinned down by Valley, 63-5
WEST DES MOINES — The Marshalltown wrestling team took a loss on the road to West Des Moines Valley on Thursday, 63-5.
The lone win for the Bobcats over the Class 3A No. 5 Tigers, as ranked by The Predicament, came from Bennett Hageman, who pinned Aidan Feldman just before the end of the second period in their match at 120 pounds.
Jordan Anderson took his first loss of the season, as the Bobcats’ No. 8 heavyweight in 3A lost to No. 1 Beau Lombardi by a pin at the 3 minute, 15 second-mark of their match. Anderson beat No. 2 Troy Monahan from Mason City on Tuesday, making him 1-1 against the top-two heavyweights in the class this week.
Zach Bitker, who is ranked No. 10 at 126 for Marshalltown, fell to the Nick Oldman by a 5-0 decision. Oldman is ranked No. 2 for the Tigers at 126.
Javier Rodriguez lost a close 8-7 decision against Ezra Kristensen at 106, and Carson Williams also came up just a point shy against Bracken Cobb at 195, falling in a 6-5 decision.
Marshalltown returns to the mat on Saturday when it travels to Eldora for the South Hardin-BCLUW Storm Invite, starting at 10 a.m.
