DES MOINES — The Marshalltown boys track and field team competed in the Blue Oval Invitational at Drake University on Saturday.

The 4×100-meter relay team had the best result for the Bobcats, with the team of Deonte’ Dean, Giorgio DiIorio, Gabe Wyant and Jaiden Buchanan placing sixth with a time of 46.66 seconds. The 4×800 team of Bennett O’Hare, Marshall Weeden, Zach Bitker and Brent Johnson also placed eighth with an 8:49.19.

Individually, Dwight Joar was ninth in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches, Conner Smith placed 10th out of 26 runners in the 3,200 with a career-best 10:33.95, and O’Hare was 14th in the 800 with a 2:08.52, just missing his season best by one hundredth of a second.
