Bobcat girls downed by Go-Hawks in finale

The Marshalltown girls tennis team fell to Waverly-Shell Rock in its final regular season meet of the season on Monday, 8-1.

Due to weather in the area, the meet format was changed after a rain delay, with the singles matches commencing as usual and the doubles playing three matches with one set to eight games.

Olivia Brintnall was the lone winner for the Bobcats, taking a 6-3, 6-4, victory over Molly Ramker at No. 4 singles.

Madi Finch also had a close battle in the No. 3 match, falling 6-7, 6-1, (10-8) to Katie Wichman. Emily Miller took a tough 6-2, 7-5, loss at No. 1 to Olivia Phillips as well.

In doubles, Finch and Brintnall were again locked in a tough struggle at No. 2 but lost to Phillips and Ramker, 8-6, and Grace Fisher and Jillian Lang also lost 8-6 at No. 3 to Rachel Roose and Brooke Willis.
