Jake Shipley

SIOUX CITY — The Briar Cliff Athletic Department has announced its 2020 Hall of Fame class will include 2009 West Marshall High School graduate Jake Shipley.

Shipley will begin his third season as an assistant coach on the Chargers’ men’s basketball staff this winter, returning to Briar Cliff after spending three seasons at the University of Jamestown (N.D.) as the lead basketball assistant.

Shipley, a 2013 graduate of Briar Cliff University, was a two-time All-American on the men’s basketball squad. He was a first-team selection as a junior and an honorable mention selection as a senior, finishing his Chargers career with 1,485 points and 430 rebounds. He’s 12th on the school’s all-time scoring chart and was a three-time all-Great Plains Athletic Conference first-team pick.

At West Marshall, Shipley was a two-time Class 2A all-state selection by the Iowa Newspaper Association after helping the Trojans get to back-to-back state tournaments.
