Marshalltown Community College volleyball head coach Justin Hoskins was suspended Friday morning.

The reason for the school’s suspension of Hoskins remains unknown, as does the duration of the suspension.

Assistant coach Frank Hanes has been named as interim head coach of the program.

“We found out about this yesterday morning,” Hanes said after Saturday’s matches. “It’s been a hectic 48 hours. We’ve been focused as a team from the beginning. The girls really rallied. They are a great group. They are really close. We are really just focused on the team part of it.”

Hanes is in second year with the program as an assistant coach.

“It’s a big adjustment,” team captain Raquel Gonzales said. “[Hanes is] a young coach. I think he’s done great. He’s done such a good job with clicking with us and connecting with us. I think he has a lot to bring. We have a lot to learn from him.”

Hoskins declined to comment.

Attempts to contact MCC Athletic Director John Kriebs were unsuccessful.
