FORT WORTH, Texas — The TCU women’s basketball team used a 12-0 run early in the third quarter and maintained at least a two-possession lead to take down Iowa State 82-72 on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena.

The host Horned Frogs (18-5, 9-3 Big 12) only trailed twice by one point and led by as many as eight in the first half. The Cyclones (15-9, 7-6) fought back to within one, 36-35, at the 8:34 mark of the third quarter before TCU broke free for good. Lauren Heard scored seven points in a 12-0 run that pushed the margin to 13, 48-35, and Iowa State could get no closer than four the rest of the way.

Heard finished with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds to go with her six assists to lead TCU. All five Horned Frog starters scored in double-digits, including 17 points for Jayde Woods and 12 each for Adeola Akomolafe, Jaycee Bradley and Kianna Ray.

TCU’s bench pitched in just six points, but the Frogs dominated the paint by outscoring Iowa State 42-16 in the lane.

Adriana Camber led the Cyclones with a season-high 18 points, sparked by five 3-pointers. Kristin Scott secured her seventh-straight double-digit scoring output with 16 points, and Ashley Joens tallied her third double-double in Iowa State’s last four games, going for 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Cyclones made a season-high 14 3-pointers but couldn’t overcome 16 turnovers.

Iowa State is off for a week before hosting Texas Tech next Sunday at 2 p.m.
