Rebels rumble through Iowa Valley in district play

GLADBROOK — Keagan Giesking ran for 170 yards and three touchdowns as the Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team throttled Iowa Valley 44-8 on Friday night in 8-Man District 5 action.

Giesking scored on touchdown runs of 8 and 10 yards before the Rebels (2-0) recorded a safety to take a 16-0 lead through the first quarter.

Tom Smith and Giesking both had 8-yard TD dashes in the second, which was capped by Drake Blakesley’s interception return for another touchdown.

Smith added a 26-yard touchdown dash to give G-R its final points before Iowa Valley got on the board midway through the fourth quarter.

Giesking had 23 carries for his 170 yards, while Smith carried 13 times for 100 yards and two scores. The Rebels attempted only one pass and outgained the Tigers 340-136.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck goes to Brooklyn next Friday to face BGM.
