Drake duo helps ’Dogs drop Valpo
DES MOINES — Behind a career-high nine assists from Grace Berg and a second-consecutive double-double by Maggie Bair, the Drake women’s basketball team defeated Valparaiso, 77-67, on Friday night at the Knapp Center.
Berg tallied 15 points while Bair recorded game-highs of 16 points (on 8-of-9 shooting), 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Drake (14-10, 12-5) finished with 25 assists on 30 field goals while ending the game with its third-best field-goal shooting percentage (58.8) of the season.
Sarah Beth Gueldner provided three 3-pointers and 13 points off the bench for Drake, which snapped Valparaiso’s four-game winning streak.
Shay Frederick led the Crusaders (11-11, 7-8) with 16 points and five assists.
Drake concludes the regular season with a rematch against Valparaiso today at 3 p.m.
