ISU’s Donarski claims 5th Freshman of the Week

Lexi Donarski

IRVING, Texas — Iowa State women’s basketball player Lexi Donarski picked up her fifth Freshman of the Week award, the Big 12 Conference announced Monday. This marks the third-straight week Donarski has claimed the award.

Donarski had another big outing as she helped the Cyclones to their second ranked win of the season with an 85-68 victory over then-No. 18 West Virginia. Donarski netted 18 points and added three rebounds and two assists as the Cyclones toppled WVU. She added four 3-pointers, shooting 4-of-8 from long range in the win.

Donarski is averaging 13.2 points on the season, which is the most of any freshman in the Big 12, while shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from long range.

The honor was the eighth Freshman of the Week award for the Cyclones this season, as fellow freshmen Emily Ryan (two) and Kylie Feuerbach (one) have also claimed honors for the Cyclones.

Iowa State returns to the court on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. to take on Kansas inside Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
