Mustang boys 3rd in Nevada Invite

NEVADA — A top-five finish from Joe Terrones led the East Marshall boys’ cross country team to a third-place team finish in the Nevada Invitational Monday afternoon.

Terrones finished in third place with a time of 17 minutes, 19 seconds. He was the only Mustang boys’ runner to finish in the top ten, but Kaleb Grant came in 11th place with a time of 18:31, while Hunter Hughlette and Patrick Slifer finished in 16th and 17th places, respectively. Hughlette ran the race in 19 minutes, while Slifer finished in 19:01. Cale Hungerford was 23rd with a time of 19:32.

The Mustangs finished with 70 team points, 12 points behind second-placed Gilbert.

West Marshall came in fifth place in the team standings, finishing with 163 points and notching a fifth-place finish with Nic Thompson in 17:34. Dylan Thompson finished in 27th place after running in 19:54.

BCLUW finished in 10th place with 252 points — Cayden White leading the way with 33rd place at 20:25. Carter Kemp finished 46th with a time of 21:32.

East Marshall was the highest-rated girls’ team, finishing in sixth place with a total of 166 points — just two points behind fifth place South Hamilton.

Ellie Hull finished in 11th place and ran a 21:54, taking the first spot for the Mustangs. Mkenzie Robinson wasn’t far behind in 13th place at 22:07.

West Marshall was two points behind in the team standings at 166 points and seventh place, led by the 15th place finish of Emelia Hauser. Hauser finished with a time of 22:10. Lilly Buck was in 17th, running a 22:26.

BCLUW did not field a complete team but Abby Kemp finished 34th in 24:10, and Fiona Speicher finished in 38th at 24:54.
