Mustangs outscore Trojans in Marshall County shootout
LE GRAND — The East Marshall boys’ basketball team held off West Marshall for an 80-71 victory in Thursday’s regular-season finale for both teams.
Jackson Bidwell scored 21 points to lead the host Mustangs (11-10). Bidwell’s 3-pointer with just over a minute left gave East Marshall a four-point lead and changed West Marshall’s gameplan down the stretch.
Lucas Barnes scored a career-high 38 points to power West Marshall (11-10), adding 10 rebounds to the cause. DJ Ridout chipped in with 14 points, while Cash Johnston had a team-leading 13 rebounds.
East Marshall hosts Ogden in the first round of Class 2A District 12 play on Monday night. West Marshall waits for the first-round winner between Pleasantville and Greene County for its district semifinal on Thursday, Feb. 20, in State Center.
