AMES — The Iowa State men’s basketball team has received its first commitment out of the transfer portal for this cycle with the announcement that former Purdue Fort Wayne forward Eric Mulder will be joining the Cyclones.

Mulder is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward from Oskaloosa who played his high school basketball at Pella Christian.

Mulder announced his transfer plans through his social media accounts on Thursday.

Mulder was one of the more efficient players in college basketball last season, finishing ranked No. 13 after successfully converting on 69.5 percent of his shots.

He also ranked in the top 30 nationally in offensive rebounding, averaging 3.34 offensive boards per game. That ranked him 28th nationally.

This season he averaged 8.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 76.3 percent from the field. Mulder also boasted the nation’s highest offensive rating on KenPom this season.

Mulder has two years of eligibility remaining after playing his first three collegiate seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne.

Mulder played off the bench in all 32 games his freshman season before starting all but one game over the last two seasons. He averaged 5.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game over his three year career with the Mastodons.

Mulder helped Pella Christian reach the Class 2A state semifinals in his senior season, earning all-state honors twice for the Eagles.

Starting at $4.38/week.
