Marshalltown High School junior Kate Sandvick will be taking her passion to play softball to the next level.

The Bobcat junior recently announced her verbal commitment to Iowa State University, joining a Cyclone program that finished third in the Big 12 Conference in the spring.

Sandvick announced through her social media accounts that her love of the game won’t be ending anytime soon, and neither will her career.

“I can’t wait to be part of Cyclone Nation and continue my journey in Ames!” she wrote.

Sandvick still has two seasons remaining at MHS, where she has accumulated a .452 batting average through her first three years as a Bobcat. In 64 career games, Sandvick has 76 hits including 21 doubles, one triple, one home run and 42 RBIs. She’s scored 48 runs, has 29 total walks and has struck out just four times.

This past summer, Sandvick did not strike out in 59 at-bats for the Bobcats.

She has been selected as a second-team all-Iowa Alliance Conference pick the past two summers and was an honorable mention selection as an eighth-grader.

Sandvick also plays club ball for Iowa Premier Fastpitch out of Des Moines.

Starting at $4.38/week.
