James Johnson

DECORAH — James Johnson, a 2024 Marshalltown High School graduate, delivered a standout performance at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in helping Simpson College secure a conference title in the distance medley relay.

Johnson, a sophomore, entered the meet with momentum after running 4 minutes, 11.42 seconds, in the 1,600-meter run at the Liz Wuertz Invitational hosted by Wartburg College the week prior. The mark ranks second all-time in Simpson program history.

On Friday night at the ARC Championships, Johnson ran the 1,600-meter anchor leg for the distance medley and brought the Storm across the finish line in first place with a time of 10:14.93.

On Saturday, Johnson returned to the track in the 3,000 meters, placing fifth in 8:21.03. The performance also moved Johnson to second all-time in school history.
