IOWA CITY — Georgia transfer Jocelyn Faison has signed with the University of Iowa women’s basketball program, it was announced Sunday by Hawkeyes head coach Jan Jensen.
A sophomore-to-be, Faison, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining as a Hawkeye. She is the third transfer portal prospect to sign with Iowa for next season, joining former Georgia teammate Dani Carnegie and Oklahoma State transfer Amari Whiting.
Faison played off the bench in 25 of 32 games this past season with the Bulldogs and averaged 7.8 minutes, 1.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
“We’re so excited to have Jocelyn. She has an extremely high ceiling and brings great length and versatility,” Jensen said. “I’m looking forward to working with her in our system and welcoming her to the Hawkeye family.”
The 6-foot-1 guard was ranked No. 76 nationally and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia out of Langston Hughes High School in Atlanta. She was also tabbed as the Region Player of the Year and First Team All-Region by the Georgia High School Association. In addition to those region awards, she earned All-State recognition from the Atlanta Tip-off Club.
The Hawkeyes have lost five players to the transfer portal since the end of the season, highlighted by freshman guard Addie Deal (Wisconsin). Kennise Johnson (Delaware), Callie Levin (UNI) and Teagan Mallegni (Wisconsin) have also found landing spots.
