Summer Garden Tour with five locations is July 12
If gardeners need some new ideas for yards and gardens, the Garden Tour sponsored by the Marshalltown Garden Club can give them lots of ideas. The tour is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 12. There are five gardens on the tour, four in Marshalltown and one in Conrad.
• Jim and Jane Siemens at 501 Debra Drive. Debra Drive is the street north of Westwood Drive off of Sixth Street.
• Linda McAllister at 108 College View Lane. College View Lane is the first street south of MCC, just past ball diamonds off Hwy. 14.
• Julie Weatherman at 514 Eastview Drive, and Jane Bower, next door, at 512 Eastview Drive. To get to these gardens, turn off Edgewood DrIve, on to Eastview Drive and the gardens are next to each other on the north side.
• Gary Heggen’s gardens and greenhouse are at 107 Duesenberg Drive in Conrad. Turn into Conrad from Hwy. 14 at “That Place” then go south on Main Street, past Golf Course to Duesenberg Drive.
All of the properties showcase lots of flowers, shrubs and trees, and even garden art. Some owners have even had to deal with sloping properties, reduced shade due to storm losses and integrating new plants into their landscape. Lots of ideas for new gardeners as well as seasoned gardeners.
In addition to visiting some great gardens, ticket holders who visit all five gardens will be entered a drawing for a gas gift card. Attendees who have their ticket validated at each of the five gardens will be entered in the drawing for the gift card.
Tickets will be available at the gardens and there is no rain date. The club’s Facebook page will have more information about the tour and the gardens or contact the committee chair, at 641-750-2862 or skycutter@heartofiowa.net.
