Street Rehab Project continues with June 30 update

Asphalt patching work continues on several sections of streets that have been milled. The following are the impact areas, weather permitting, over the next week:

Starting late July 1 into July 2, the asphalt interlayer will be placed on West Linn Street (South Third Street to South First Street) and South First Street (West Church Street to West Madison Street).

On July 6-7, the asphalt interlayer will be placed on West State Street (North 13th Street to North Fifth Street).

On other streets milled to date, additional utility adjustments, minor curb work and partial depth asphalt/scratch patches continue. If residents are along or adjacent to the streets being improved, be aware that they may not park on these streets. These streets are closed to thru traffic during many of the operations, if the road closed sign is up – do not drive through the construction work area. Limited access is being allowed for those that have driveways within the work zone and only when construction equipment is not in the way. For those that do not have space in the driveway that are on the route, workers are allowing them to park on their yard at the risk of damaging the grass. Police Department and Parking Enforcement will not enforce yard parking during the project along these project streets during construction.

Also, on July 6 into July 7, the full depth mill and base asphalt work will be happening on South First Avenue (East South Street to East Ferner Street). On this block only, no local access will be allowed during this work, including to driveways.

Keep up to date on the latest schedule by checking out the website: www.marshalltown-ia.gov/858/Construction

Typical working hours are 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, there will be no work July 3.

Starting at $4.75/week.
