Trees Forever hosting tree distribution for central Iowa residents

DES MOINES — Central Iowa residents can now reserve low-cost, high-quality trees for the upcoming fall planting season through Trees Forever’s tree distribution. Property owners may reserve up to five trees to be picked up at the Oct. 10 distribution event in Des Moines by visiting TreesForever.org/Adopt. These trees are 3-gallon container planted and stand between one and five feet tall. SNHU announces Summer 2026 Dean’s List

MANCHESTER, NH — Southern New Hampshire University congratulates the following students on being named to the Summer 2026 Dean's List: Stephanie Waltemeyer and Juan Gutierrez, both of Marshalltown, and Jacey Fritz, of Hubbard. The summer terms run from May to August. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring and summer.

Area schools among the 125 schools to receive Choose Iowa grants

DES MOINES — Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig recently announced that 125 Iowa public and private schools will receive funding through the Choose Iowa Local Food for Schools Program to purchase Iowa grown and raised food. Each participating school will receive approximately $1,600, which will be matched at least one-to-one by the school to double the impact and generate additional purchases of local food.
