Marshalltown crack and joint sealing work areas for July 8

Street preservation work in the form of HMA crack sealing continues on Wednesday. Work areas included on the schedule: • Pine Street from South Second Avenue to South Third Avenue • Industrial Boulevard from South 12th Avenue to South 14th Avenue • East Olive 355' West and 455' East of South 12th Street Intersection • Terry Terrace from South Sixth Street to Cul de sac During this time, residential roads may be closed to thru traffic. Local access will be coordinated on-site, as needed. Typical working hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Grief Support Group meets Thursday

Together We Can, a peer support agency, is holding its monthly Grief Support Group from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 9 at 8 W. Church St. It is free and open to anyone 18 and older who is dealing with any form of grief. It doesn't matter if people are new to grief or if they've been grieving for a while, this group welcomes them. This is a safe place to talk about what they are feeling. There are no judgments made. Being around others who are experiencing some of the same feelings is healing and lets people know that they are not alone in the grieving process.

Parks and Rec offers Bobcat Bowling Clinic for Youth

Marshalltown Parks and Recreation is inviting area youth to hit the lanes this summer with the Bobcat Bowling Clinic, a week-long instructional program designed for students entering 2nd through 8th grade. This new recreational program offering will be held July 27-31 at Wayward Social, 1101 S. Sixth St. Participants will learn the fundamentals of bowling, including proper techniques, rules, lane etiquette and competitive strategies in a fun and supportive environment. Historical Society of Marshall County presents ‘Jane Addams and The Hull House’

The Historical Society of Marshall County is co-sponsoring with Humanities Iowa the program “Jane Addams and the Hull House,” at 6:30 p.m., July 14, at The Binford House, 110 N. Second Ave., Marshalltown. Noted humanities speaker and historical interpreter Helen Lewis will offer her first-person portrayal of Addams – a renowned advocate for youth. MCC to host RAGBRAI overnight stop

Marshalltown Community College will serve as a host site for RAGBRAI LIII on July 22 as thousands of cyclists pass through Marshalltown on the 391-mile ride across Iowa. MCC has partnered with Pork Belly Ventures, a longtime RAGBRAI charter and support outfitter, to provide overnight accommodations for the company's riders during the overnight stop.
