Sunday afternoon, people gathered at St. Henry Catholic Church to enjoy homemade soup served in handcrafted bowls, with proceeds benefiting the House of Compassion. An annual event, the fundraiser draws folks from all over the area. Chili, southwest chili, cheesy broccoli, turkey noodle and vegetable beef soups were served. The unique ceramic bowls were all made by art students from Marshalltown High School, who often sign their names to the bottom. Because no two bowls are alike, they are highly collectible year to year.
