No. 2 Indian Hills closes out MCC men, 74-69

The Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team gave a great effort against NJCAA No. 2 Indian Hills on Saturday night at the Student Activity Center in an ICCAC showdown, but it wasn’t enough to topple the Warriors, as the Tigers fell 74-69.

Mohamed Thiam racked up 32 points and eight rebounds to lead the Tigers (16-10, 2-5). Oscar Kao chipped in 10 points as well, while Kelton Edwards dropped in 14 off the bench.

Three players finished in the double digits for the undefeated Warriors (27-0, 6-0) with Devontae Lane leading the way with 17 points and Shane Gatling and Antonio Williams following with 16 and 12 respectively.

MCC head coach Brynjar Brynjarsson said his guys did some good things on the court, but what hurt them was losing the rebounding battle 33-25.

“We played well at times but struggled rebounding the ball and turnovers hurt us again,” Brynjarsson said. “We didn’t get those second chances at the glass like we typically do and that may have been the difference tonight.”
