Mark Eaton should be elected for the 4th ward city council position. Over the past six years, I have gotten to know Mark pretty well and even sat down and discussed pressing issues before the city council with him. I was really amazed at all of Mark Eaton’s answers to the TR’s questions regarding the race for the Fourth Ward City Council position. But why wouldn’t Mark know the answers? He attends Marshalltown City Council meetings, Marshall County Supervisors meetings, Library Board meetings, Marshalltown School Board meetings. He has been the Marshall County Sheriff’s representative on the Compensation Commission, and he was recently appointed to the Board of Adjustment by the Mayor and City Council. I attended the 4th Ward candidate forum Tuesday night and Mark Eaton is the person who should represent the 4th Ward. Not only did he live just down the street from Al Hoop, but Mark would hit the ground running on day one. There would be no need to hold his hand showing how City government runs he already knows; not only City but County and state as well. He has attended City Council meets since 2016. Coach Hoop’s legacy

We have all mourned the loss of Coach Hoop. His death hit me especially hard. As the newest City Council member this past January, he made me feel welcome and part of the team. We had many conversations on the future of Marshalltown and I will forever miss his wisdom and vision. Melisa Fonseca is running to represent the 4th Ward in Marshalltown on the City Council in the special election on July 16. We just came from the Candidate Forum held in Dejardin Hall, where she showed that she genuinely cares about Marshalltown. I could tell her answers were heartfelt.
