Marshalltown P.E.O. Chapter BB awards scholarships

“It is our pleasure to award $1,000 scholarships to Alexa McKeever, Bawi Par and Chesni Uhde,” said Ladonna Allison, chair of the local scholarship committee for Chapter BB. McKeever is the daughter of Jeremiah and Katherine McKeever. She plans on attending Iowa State University to major in event management and minor in marketing. Par is the daughter of Hoi Par. She plans on attending the University of Iowa and major in nursing. Uhde is the daughter of Kami and Chip Uhde. P.E.O. Chapter LT initiates new member

P.E.O. Chapter LT initiated Kim Sogge at 1 p.m. on May 1 at the Marshalltown Public Library. There were 15 members there to witness the Ceremony of Initiation with Lisa Koester, president. It was announced that there were 10 Marshalltown High School women candidates who completed the application for the one $500 college scholarship to be given by this chapter. Koester will represent the chapter at the Iowa State P.E.O. Convention in Des Moines, June 3 and 4. The members made May Baskets to share with members and friends. Amy Stahlin was hostess and served refreshments.

Spinning Wheel hears program on human trafficking

The Spinning Wheel Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution met on April 21 with nine members and one associate member attending. Diane Hobson, chaplain pro tem opened the meeting with prayer. The Agenda was adopted. Regent Hunt read the March minutes and they were approved as read, and then appointed Marlys Ankrum as secretary pro tem.
