Optimists install incoming officers and directors

The Noon Optimist Club of Marshalltown held its Installation Banquet for incoming officers and directors for the 2019-20 year on Oct. 2 at Riverview Park Reunion Hall in Marshalltown. President Damon Morrison provided the welcome and invocation to start the banquet followed with the Pledge of Allegiance. Morrison noted the last year has been successful for the Noon Optimist Club. He mentioned several areas where he expects the incoming president to continue making improvements. P.E.O. Chapter LT Lavish Taste fundraising silent auction

P.E.O. Chapter LT had a fundraising silent auction, Lavish Taste, on Monday at Iowa River Hospice Meeting Room. Dorien Putman, chairman of ways and means committee, directed the event of member donated items of food, handmade items, home decorative articles and miscellaneous items that the members bid on. The money raised will be used for P.E.O. projects given to women for post high school education in the U.S. and Canada for Scholar Awards, STAR Scholarship, Program for Continuing Education, International Peace Scholarship, Educational Loan Fund and Cottey College in Nevada, Mo. ...

Prairieville Ladies begin 2019-2020 year

Prairieville Ladies Club began its 2019-2020 year, Aug. 18 with a family BBQ at Teresa Vokoun’s home, assistants were Laura Haugen, Janet Stackhouse and Kim Jass-Ramirez. President Renie Loney called the business meeting to order with eight members answering the roll call, “Who was your favorite teacher in school and why?” The treasurer’s report was given and membership dues were collected. TOPS welcomes new members

Would you like or need to lose weight? Help is right here in Marshalltown. TOPS stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly and this is a support group that will help you stay on whatever meal plan you or your doctor decide is best for you. Members will be there to cheer you on in your journey to lose weight. TOPS is a small group, but it has dedicated members that wish to help. TOPS 1243 meets at the First Church of the Nazarene at 11 W. South St. in the community room, which is just east of the church where the parking lot is. Weigh-in runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and the meeting follows.

Chapter BB hosts variety of meetings

P.E.O. Chapter BB gathered for an initial covered dish luncheon on Sept. 16 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Each member was asked to bring a food to share that began with the first letter of her last name. The feast included deviled egg dip, asparagus wraps, assorted pickled items that begin with the letter B, a lemon fruit salad and key lime pie. Following the luncheon the regular business meeting was held. On Oct. 7, the meeting was held at the library.
