Diana Murillo, of Marshalltown, made an initial appearance on a possession of Schedule II controlled substance-methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a possession of Schedule IV controlled substance-Clonezapam charge and a unlawful possession of a prescription drug charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 5. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only.

Jeremy Lynn Lavender, of Marshalltown, made an initial appearance on a possession of a firearm as a felon charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 5. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Lance Matthew Schaum, of Marshalltown, made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons charge and a open container charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 12. Schaum was released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours of his release.

Ron Draper made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. The court appointed Melissa Nine as counsel. A parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by his parole officer. Draper is being held without bond.

Reiley M. Hanson, of Williamsburg, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge. He will hire Fred Stieffel as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 12. Hanson was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered a substance abuse evaluation with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of today’s date.

Sarah Lea Kever, of Marshalltown, made an initial appearance on a unlawful passing of a school bus charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Dec. 17 in Magistrate Court.

Jason Edwin Fingers made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. A Rocket Docket pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 19 in Magistrate Court.

Christopher Michael Hildreth made an initial appearance on a failure to appear at a pre-trial conference. The court appointed Aaron Stickrod as counsel. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 9 a.m. on Nov. 26 in Magistrate Court. Hildreth was released on his own recognizance.

Michael Anthony Garcia Zimmerman, of Haverhill, made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

Brad Alan Hennick, of Ackley, made an initial appearance on a burglary-first degree charge. Chad Frese was hired as counsel and he waived the preliminary hearing. Hennick posted bond and was released.

Rodolfo Perez Jr., of Marshalltown, made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. The court appointed Darrell Meyer as counsel. A scheduling hearing was ordered. No bond was allowed in this case.

Incidents

On Monday, an employee with SM Hentges & Sons Inc., 822 N. Third Ave., reported criminal mischief damage. Estimated value of damage was between $500-$1,000.

On Monday, an employee with Verizon Wireless, 3109 S. Center St., reported an attempted burglary and a case of criminal mischief.

On Monday, an employee at US Cellular, 2500 S. Center St., reported a burglary.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Christopher Hildreth, of Marshalltown, was arrested on criminal warrants.

On Monday, Earl Carmer Jr., of Marshalltown, was arrested for animal bites.

Accidents

On Sunday, a legally parked car in the 100 block of West Linn Street was sideswiped by a white unknown vehicle. Estimated value of damage was $3,000.

On Friday, a car driven by Gregory Lynn Wilson, 106 N 17th St., was northbound on North Ninth Street when it attempted to stop and due to brake failure collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Damein Lee Bown, 407 W. Main St. Apt. #306, which was stopped at the stop sign. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bown vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Wilson car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Friday, a vehicle driven by Stephen Fields Larson, 1012 Prairie Lane, was northbound on 12th Street when it went out of control on the icy roadway and entered the ditch on the west side of the road striking a mail box and post. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Larson vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the mail box and post received an estimated $50 in damage.

On Friday, a car driven by Maree Sha, 512 W. Boone St., was westbound on West Merle Hibbs Boulevard approaching South Sixth Street and in an attempt to pull around a car driven by Ryan William Ralf, of State Center, it collided with the passenger side rear. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sha car was estimated at $900 while the Ralf car received an estimated $800 in damage.

On Thursday, a car driven by Carrie Marie Bown, 812 E. State St., was eastbound in the 600 block of West Nevada Street approaching a curve in the road when it hit a area of packed snow causing it to slide into a pickup driven by Bradley Alan Johnson, 214 S. 15th Ave., which was traveling from the west. Bown was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. Damage to the Bown car was estimated at $2,000 while the Johnson pickup received an estimated $300 in damage.

On Nov. 17, a Dodge Durango was spotted striking a fire hydrant causing it to strike an electrical box on Meadow Lane and then leaving the scene of the accident traveling south. Damage to the fire hydrant was estimated at $1,500 while the electrical box received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

On Nov. 16, a car driven by Cale Craig Cutller, 314 N. 14th Ave., was southbound in the 200 block of North 14th Avenue attempting to stop at the intersection with East State Street when it hit a patch of ice causing it to slide onto State Street colliding into a vehicle driven by Ka Paw Htoo, 401 E. Southridge Road, which was traveling east on State Street. No injuries were reported. Cutller was cited for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended and no insurance. Damage to the Cutller car was estimated at $2,000 while the Htoo vehicle received an estimated $900 in damage.
