• Connor Nicholas Jessen made an initial appearance on an assault committed on person with no-contact order in place charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 17. Bond is set at $20,000 cash. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Phillip Thomas Brooks made an initial appearance on three counts of a violation of a no-contact order charge. Brian Mercy is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $6,000 cash. An updated no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Seamus Mickell Kaye made an initial appearance on a voluntary absence from custody charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 17. Kaye is being held without bond.
• Shawn Michael Moore made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a sentencing hearing charge. The sentencing hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered by the court with the results submitted to the court.
• Brett Allen Ellison made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a court proceeding charge. Mark Olberding will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference is still at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5 with a jury trial at 9 a.m. on Dec. 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• On Monday, Oct. 6, Phillip Brooks, 39, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.
• On Monday, Oct. 6, Seamus Kaye, 52, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Oct. 6, Shawn Moore, 31, was arrested on a warrant charging him with operating while under the influence-first offense.
Accidents
• On Saturday, Oct. 4, a pickup driven by Benjamin Scott Welch, 45, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Garwin Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Welch pickup was estimated at $1,500.
• On Saturday, Oct. 4, an SUV driven by Deidra JoEllen Mohr, 37, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the travelled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mohr SUV was estimated at $8,000.
• On Thursday, Oct. 2, a SUV driven by Amanda Marie Yoder, 50, of Holland, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a raccoon resulting in disabling damage to the radiator. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Yoder SUV was estimated at $1,500.
