Westin Hansen named 2018 Grundy County Fair Queen
T-R PHOTO BY CHUCK FRIEND Westin Hansen of Holland, Iowa was named Grundy County Fair Queen on Tuesday evening, and will represent Grundy County at the Iowa State Fair.
GRUNDY CENTER — Westin Hansen of Holland, Iowa was crowned the 2018 Grundy County Fair Queen as festivities got underway on July 17 in Grundy Center.
Hansen is the daughter of Sara Hansen of Holland and Mike Moreland of Cedar Falls. She is active in her school at Aplington-Parkersburg where she will be a senior this fall. She is active in volleyball, FFA, National Honor Society, Students against Destructive Decisions, book club, prom steering committee and a teacher intern.
During the interview session, Hansen spoke of her leadership skills as an officer in many of her school activities. She has participated in leadership development events including state participation in Planned Public Speaking in 2017 and Job Interviewing in 2018. She is researching her options for the future which includes going to college and into healthcare.
Hansen will represent Grundy County at the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest. Judging will begin on Aug. 7 and crowning will be Aug 11.
The Grundy County Fair Queen Contest is sponsored by the Grundy County Fair Board and the Grundy Center Sorority Sisters.
