On Sunday afternoon, the Marshalltown Fire Department was requested to rescue missing kayakers in the area of Three Bridges Park in Marshall County near Le Grand.

The fire department responded with the rescue boat and Polaris Ranger to the boat launch area in Three Bridges. Upon arrival, it was determined there were two patients in need of rescue. Firefighters in the Ranger found and removed one patient from a wooded area North of the river, and firefighters deployed the boat to rescue the second patient from the shore of the river. Both patients were delivered to Unity Point EMS for evaluation, but only one was transported by ambulance from the scene.

Firefighters were at the scene for approximately 90 minutes.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and UnityPoint EMS assisted at the scene.
