Sharon L. Zobel, 85
Sharon L. Zobel, 85, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown surrounded by her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. A memorial luncheon will follow the graveside at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Sharon was born on September 23, 1937, in Marshalltown to Morrell and Jean Funke. She attended high school in Clemons, IA, where she was active in choir and a part of the basketball team. She eventually attended the Evangelical Deaconess School of Nursing in Marshalltown. While in nursing school Sharon met Duane Zobel. They were united in marriage September 1, 1957. Sharon was a faithful servant of God and one of her passions was enjoying all of His creations in nature. Sharon had many friends and always welcomed making new ones. She enjoyed working in her yard, particularly with her flowers. Most of all she loved to spend her time with her family as they were the utmost importance to her.
Sharon will be dearly missed by her children: Bradley Zobel, Jeffrey (Sandra) Zobel, Diane (Nick) McFarland, six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane, of 55 years, and her parents.
