Working Families Tax Cuts deliver real results this Tax Day

Feenstra

On April 15, Americans will see the impacts of the Working Families Tax Cuts as they submit their tax filings for the year. For too long, many have seen Tax Day as a day of stress and uncertainty. But this year, Republicans are helping rewrite the course for millions of Americans, and many are already seeing real relief and real results. Congressional Republicans worked with President Trump to stop the largest tax increase in American history.

As a result, tax refunds are up significantly across the country. According to data from the Trump administration, refunds have increased by 24% compared to the previous administration. Just as importantly, the average refund has exceeded $3,400, an increase of more than 11% from 2025. In Iowa specifically, refunds are up by $1,130.

This increase isn’t driven by chance. Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts enacting policies that are pro-work, pro-family, and pro-America, Americans are finally keeping more of what they earn.

As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I worked directly to advance policies that reflect the needs of Iowa families. As a father of four, I know how key provisions like the expanded Child Tax Credit and a larger standard deduction can make a meaningful difference when planning family finances. Families are receiving additional support to help cover everyday costs like groceries, childcare, and education. And for young families, “Trump Accounts” are creating new opportunities to save and invest in the future from day one. Since their creation, more than 4 million children are already saving for the future through these new investment accounts.

We also delivered targeted relief for workers. By eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, millions of Americans are now keeping more of their hard-earned income. For those putting in extra hours or working in the service industries that fuel our Main Streets, this is a game-changer. It rewards hard work and ensures that their efforts are recognized and not penalized.

No tax on Social Security is providing seniors with long-overdue relief. The new $6,000 deduction is helping protect retirement income and provide greater financial security after a lifetime of hard work.

This impact extends beyond individual households. Our reforms are supporting Iowa’s farmers and small businesses, the backbone of our rural communities. By strengthening the small business deduction, enabling full expensing, and protecting family farms from the Death Tax, we are fostering growth, creating jobs, and keeping our Main Streets strong.

The bottom line is simple: when government lets Americans keep more of their own money, families thrive. They have the power to invest, save, and spend according to their own priorities, not Washington’s.

This Tax Day, the numbers confirm the historic victory of the Working Families Tax Cuts: larger paychecks, larger refunds, and greater financial freedom. These tax cuts are not just policy; they are results you can see and feel.

And we are just getting started. I will continue working to ensure that Iowa families, farmers, workers, and small businesses not only have a voice in Washington, but also have the tools they need to succeed, not just this April 15, but for years to come.
