When life seems hopeless

This book starts out by God having Isaiah’s attention, he is keenly listening. God has been talking about the Spiritual condition of the Jewish people. Isaiah is well aware of their sinfulness, he sees it everywhere.

His heart is hurting because of the choices his people make. When God reveals all the sins of His people, they are the same ones that Isaiah has petitioned God for help. He wanted Spiritual help with Israel’s attitude. All the time Isaiah is listening, he becomes more lethargic and downcast. God ends the conversation with this preacher by proclaiming all the great things he has done for His stiff-necked people.

From the beginning of creation, it was in His plan to have His Holy City in Jerusalem. Isaiah’s heart has been thoroughly agreeable to what God has said. When the creator asked who He should send to speak with these leaders, without hesitation Isaiah said, here I am Lord, send me.

For six chapters, Isaiah has allowed God to speak whatever is on His mind. It is a ritual Isaiah used every day. Seeking God’s presence is a closeness that gives energy and strength to those who choose to be obedient. When God stopped talking, Isaiah was aware that the Creator meant that the Jew’s must change or they would feel the consequence of their continued rebellion. In chapter six, Isaiah is being cleansed in his Spirit for the task ahead: speaking to a people with stopped-up ears and blind eyes.

On his own strength this preacher was not able to undertake the challenge. We see the Holy Spirit touching Isaiah for he will need Spiritual control for this mission. When Isaiah offered his help, the ministry began.

It would not be easy to speak to the people of God for they know what they should do, to help others, but they simply did not respond. Isaiah wanted to know how long he should preach to these folks! Basically, he should tell the message until they repented, or destruction came. These were the only two choices, God simply had enough! Apparently, Israel did not change for the Northern ten tribes suffered the result of God’s promise. In 722 B.C. they were taken by other nations into slavery.

Could it be that God is giving the same message to America?
