Memories!
Often I look at memories from my birth, to this very moment. I was born an asthmatic and still have that same condition. But on December 7, 1941, The world changed for all countries, and all people. Japan attacked us at Pearl Harbor. The rest of the world was fighting Hitler and the Nazi’s. For six years, millions of people lost their lives being on one side or the other. We lived on the Western shore of Iowa. When all of America hunkered down in war-jobs, our parents made plans to move to Seattle, Port Orchard and Bremerton, Washington. America needed workers to repair our ships that were bombed. Thousands of workers were simply farm folks who had the skill of repairing equipment. Getting there would be a difficult task because almost everything needed, for survival, was rationed. Feeding millions of soldiers was America’s primary goal. Our family unit included five children and our parents. No new cars were being made so our trip was in a 1929 Chevy four-door sedan. We couldn’t buy tires so we left with one rear tire “Booted up.” Four years later we returned to Iowa the same way. During those “War Years” every American struggled to keep our Country protected. We each did our part of saving and giving, making do with the bare essentials. If we did not struggle against the evil folks, they would simply walk into our land and take everything. We were expected to fight and win. Our walk through this life is the same. There is an evil One who is dedicated to destroying who you are ’cause he doesn’t want you to succeed beyond this human life.” If he can get us to give up on God, he has hurt the creator by destroying His creation. A gracious creator is willing to help us along the way-with protection. We won the 2nd world war-effort because Americans worked together. In our spiritual contest it is us and God against satan. We are taking control of our future by making the right choices. We should listen to God and not the world. God is willing to let us see Adam and Eve’s mistake. They chose to listen to satan and not God.
