Hawkeyes’ Moss to gauge NBA draft stock
IOWA CITY — Guard Isaiah Moss is the second sophomore on the University of Iowa men’s basketball team to submit paperwork for early entry into the NBA draft, a process designed to gauge professional interest.
Moss joined Tyler Cook by announcing his plans on Tuesday. Moss has not hired an agent and has until May 30 to return to school or remain eligible for the draft.
“It is a dream of mine to play professional basketball,” Moss said in a statement. “I look forward to going through the process and I think the coaching staff for helping me through it. I am excited for the feedback and opportunity to work out for NBA personnel so my family and I can make the best decision for my future.”
The 6-foot-5 Moss averaged 11.1 points a game last season, fourth-best on a team that stumbled to a 14-19 record that included just four wins against Big Ten opponents. He was second on the team with 62 assists, 22 steals and 49 3-pointers made.
“This is an opportunity for Isaiah to learn more about himself and his game during this process,” said Hawkeye head coach Fran McCaffery. “Going through this process will benefit him in the long term. We fully support Isaiah and we will be there to help him along the way.”
