Former Cyclone WR Butler placed on injured reserve

TEMPE, Ariz. — Former Iowa State wide receiver was placed on injured reserved by the Arizona Cardinals.

The fourth-round pick suffered an avulsion fracture in his hand in the team’s second preseason game against the Oakland Raiders in the 33-26 loss.

As a result of being placed on IR before the Cardinals finalize their 53-man roster, Butler will not be allowed to practice with the team and will be forced to miss the 2019 season. However, Butler will be able to attend team meetings and other team activities.

Had the Cardinals waited to place Butler on IR after finalizing their roster then Butler could have been activated later in the regular season.

Butler recorded one catch for six yards in preseason.
