DES MOINES — Jose Balderas Hernandez had four goals and an assist as the Class 4A No. 6 Des Moines East boys’ soccer squad defeated Marshalltown 7-1 on Tuesday night.

Pierre Castro had two goals and an assist, and Yandel Rodriguez also scored for the Scarlets (10-1). Manny Sanchez contributed two assists while Axel Contreres, Javier Riveros Ortiz and Cristhian Villanueva Morales each had one assist.

Rodrigo Lopez recorded the lone goal for the Bobcats (3-4), who finished with only three shots on goal. Marshalltown was limited to six shots in all.

Aleczander Scales made 14 saves in net for MHS.

Marshalltown meets a ranked team for the fourth straight game when Ames visits on Friday for a 5 p.m. match at the J.W. Fisher Memorial Soccer Complex. The Little Cyclones (6-3) are ranked eighth in 4A.
