Bobcats get swept by East rollers
DES MOINES — The Marshalltown High School bowling teams both suffered defeat for the first time this season as Des Moines East swept the Bobcats on Tuesday at Bowlerama Lanes.
The Bobcat boys were defeated 2,941-2,653 by the host Scarlets, while the girls fell 2,186-1,982 to East.
On the boys’ side, Marshalltown was led by Aiden Cowan’s 227 second game and 400 series. Carter McCready rolled a 200-190–390, and Jayden Beichley added a 210-156–366 series. Porter Niedermann (286) and Cayden Slifer (274) rounded out the Bobcats’ individual scoring.
Des Moines East (2-0) got the high game and series from Cale Kline (191-261–452) while outscoring MHS 1,953-1,716 in singles play. The Scarlets added to their lead by just 51 pins after five Baker games.
In girls action, Marshalltown only trailed by 100 pins after individual play, but the Bobcats couldn’t close the gap in Bakers.
Sydney May led MHS with a 153-139–292 series, followed by Devin Peterson (276), Zhixuan Li (246), Ariana Villagomez (244) and Camillya Thomas (241).
Rileigh Schillinger led Des Moines East with a 266 game and a 439 series.
