Larry Gene Meling, 78, of Ankeny, passed away on August 2, 2022, at his home and under the care of UnityPoint Hospice.

Funeral services for Larry will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Ferguson Bible Church in Ferguson, Iowa. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either the Hope Ministries in Des Moines or to St. Jude. Larry Meling was born on February 5, 1944, in Gilman, Iowa, to Johnnie B. and Evelyn (Hoverstein) Meling. He graduated from High School in Carpenter, Iowa in 1962. Larry was retired from Allied Construction in Des Moines as a Plasterer. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and visiting with his friends and family.

Larry is survived by his children: Corrine Meling, Holly (John) Zobeck, Brad Meling, Mike (Lisa) Meling, Stephanie Heerkes and Johnnie (Jessica) Meling. Grandchildren: Beau (Steph) Meling, Ryan Meling, Taylor (Garrett) Eivins, Savannah Zobeck, Callie Zobeck, Grace Zobeck, Faith Zobeck, Levi (McKenzie) Meling, Jonie (Lee) Brewer, Raleyn (Trevor) Meling, Bailey Weber, Marisa Meling, Savana Meling, Jordan Meling, Jordyn Meling and Josey Meling. He is also survived by great grandchildren: Arianna, Brooklyn and Cameron Meling; Jaden, Audreigh and Aspen Eivins; Grayson, Emerson and Bradlee Meling and Jace Heerkes.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeffrey; grandson, Noah Heerkes and great granddaughters, Charlotte and Aria Weber.
