Deputy Hageman graduates from Iowa Law Enforcement Academy

DES MOINES — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird congratulated Deputy Luke Hageman on his graduation from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in a ceremony held at Valley Church in West Des Moines on Aug. 21. The graduation ceremony was attended by family, friends and law enforcement officials from across the state. Hageman was part of the 327th graduating class and completed the academy’s rigorous 16-week training program that consisted of coursework in policing communications, criminal law, physical fitness and emergency response. Sunrise Hike is Sept. 9

Join Marshall County Conservation for a program that encourages people to start the morning with a hike in a county park. Research has shown that people who exercise in the morning are more active throughout the day. Come for a brisk hike, bring those binoculars to spot birds or take a leisurely stroll for some fresh air. MCCB staff will be there to answer any questions participants might have. Ledges State Park is now reopened

BOONE — Ledges State Park fully opened on Sept. 1 after a month-long road project at the park. Major improvements include parking lot and roadway surfacing, roadside drainage improvements and parking lot striping. “We’re excited to be open in time for Labor Day weekend and to welcome park visitors for the fall season,” said Park Manager Andy Bartlett. Marshalltown Community College presents its newest art exhibit, The Pumas and Wildlife of Torres del Paine, Chile, featuring the work of self-taught nature photographer and Poet Laureate of Iowa, Dr. Paul Brooke.
