Sigma Master holds first meeting of new year

Caralee Hutchens, president Sigma Master hosted the noon luncheon at Mama DiGrados’ Pasta & Pizza opening the meeting thanking eight members and one guest present. There were seven members absent. Roll call was taken by Alice Nicholson with the question: “What New Years’ resolution did you make?” Minutes of the last meeting and treasurer’s report was also given, and approved. New year begins for 100 Women Who Care

February begins the ninth year of 100 Women Who Care — Marshalltown meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Calvin Rockett’s upper level. This women’s philanthropic organization started in 2012 with its first donation to the Animal Rescue League and has not stopped meeting three times a year to consider more charities and worthwhile projects needing contributions. New members are always invited to join and the organization continues to lend a monetary hand to the needs in the community. For the Love of Binford Event is at dinner beginning with a social hour with charcuterie and sparkling cider at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 at the house, 110 N. Second Ave., Marshalltown. Holiday breakfast for Prairieville Ladies

Prairieville Ladies Club met for a holiday breakfast at the Christmas decorated Binford House. Hostesses were Karen Oaks, Jeanie Burt and Alyce Quastad. President Renie Loney presided at the business meeting. Thirteen members and one guest, Sally Ramirez, answered roll call, “What was a strict rule you had to follow growing up?” Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
