VFW slates Yule Party for Dec. 14

Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 has selected Dec. 14 as date for its 2019 traditional Christmas Party. Rick Johnson headed discussion during Tuesday’s November meeting as a ham and turkey meal and happy hour agenda was set by Harry C. Harter Post members. Phil Gould will provide music. The brief December meeting will be held at beginning of the 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. happy hour which will precede the meal served by volunteers. Rob Shepherd, senior vice commander, presided at the meeting. VFW Auxiliary prepares for December activities

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Post 839 met on Nov. 19 at the Post home. A joint meeting was held with the Post to plan for the Christmas Party on Dec. 14. The meeting started at 6:40 p.m. There were 15 members present. Connie Kennelley, president, conducted the meeting according to the ritual. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. Retired school personnel hear excerpt from ‘Sister Act’

The Marshall County Retired School Personnel Association held its Nov. 18 meeting at the Fisher Community Center. The members enjoyed a program of six East Marshall students, directed by Deidra Moore, who presented an excerpt from the musical “Sister Act.” The business meeting was called to order by President Carole Permar.
