Some truth and a warning

This letter makes two points: one for the sake of truthfulness and the other as an ominous warning. First, a much-repeated must be dispelled - the reckless spending done by Joe Biden. When you’re young, Christmas means Santa Claus and an anticipation of toys, dolls, balls, electronics, etc. that we lump into a big stocking called gifts. Connecting the dots

Since no local, state, national or international governing body has the backbone to stand up to the influence of Big Oil money, at least we need to call it out for what it is: filthy dirty money. Individuals or institutions who profit from such investments are either selfishly unwilling or simply incapable of connecting the dots regarding the utter destruction they are causing.

Concerns about garbage changes

After reading the article in the Wednesday December 13 TR about approving changes to the garbage collection ordinance, I was very upset, so I decided to express my concerns in a letter to the editor. I have been concerned about the possible changes discussed at the Marshalltown city council meeting. I was feeling selfish being concerned about how the possible changes would affect me personally. Garbage services

The recent articles in the TR from the city council meetings, concerning possible changes in garbage pickup services appear to make it more difficult for these hard-working people to do their job. I greatly appreciate the job they do, year-round in every weather condition. Provided the garbage is picked up by an authorized business and handled properly, why does the city council want to limit pickup to a packer truck? In the future, it sounds like the city council wants to dictate what day your garbage is picked up. It seems that the garbage hauling businesses already have a system that ...
